The Dransfeldt's arrived

Bjarne, Lone, Kathrine, Else and Ole arrived in Portland this last Wednesday and we got a chance to do a little touring around Oregon. It was great seeing them again and showing them around Oregon a little bit. A little shopping was on the agenda so we went to Clackamas Town Center mall and did a little shopping. I think everyone found something they wanted so we were ready to do some touring.. :)
The next day, we drove to the Vista House, which is in the Columbia River Gorge. It has a beautiful view of the Gorge Area.
We then took the Old Columbia River Highway to Multnomah Falls, which is the second tallest year round falls in the U.S. It was a beautiful day and we hiked up to the bridge for a better view of the falls.
We then went to Hood River and looked around the town a little bit and had lunch at the Full Sail Brewery. We went down to the beach by the river and watched the windsurfer's carve up the waves.. Next on the agenda was heading to Mt Hood to visit Timberline Lodge. It was really nice up there and we got a chance to throw some snowballs at each other.
I think the kids (Else and Ole) had the most fun.. :)
The next day we drove up to Mt. Saint Helens, however it was pretty cloudy that day and we couldn't see much of the mountain. We watched the movie about the volcanic eruption and when they opened the curtains at the end we were supposed to be able to see the volcano, but could only see clouds.. Here's a picture on the way up Saint Helens..
We then drove over to Lincoln City to meet up with Mom, Dad, and Marc. We went down to the beach to look around a bit.
And of course we had time for a little dancing on beach.. :)
That night Mom made us a delicious meal of crab and smoked salmon. I heard the crab was good, but since I'm allergic didn't try it..
It was great seeing them again and really nice meeting Ole. Bjarne talked about having a Dransfeldt reunion in 2012 somewhere in the U.S. That would be a great time.
